more about me

telma rodriguez

I’m a registered mental health therapist intern in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I received my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Nova Southeastern University in 2022. I completed my internship at Henderson Behavioral Health in Fort Lauderdale where I had the privilege of serving individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. This work shaped my approach to therapy and deepened my advocacy for community mental health as well as an appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit. I also worked with SunServe in Wilton Manors, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social services agency dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community in South Florida with affirming counseling and community-based resources. I’m committed to providing affirming & inclusive care where all identities are seen, respected and celebrated.

I received trainings in IFS (Internal Family Systems) & Attachment Theory, which I often lean on in my approach with clients.

While I have experience with a variety of clients, I do my best work supporting young adults because it’s genuinely so rewarding to witness the ‘ah-ha!’ moment when someone begins to recognize the power in their potential.

Therapy with me is authentic, collaborative and focused on helping you feel more in control of your life. I believe therapy is best when it’s laidback and supportive.

More about me

I’m a Girl Mom + Big Sister

As a girl mom to a spunky preschooler, I’m constantly learning the art of slowing down and savoring life’s simple joys. I’m also a big sister to a young adult which has deeply influenced my commitment to empowering the youth and offer support as they grow into themselves.

I’m a First-Generation Graduate

As a first generation graduate, I learned that breaking cycles takes courage, not perfection. I am personally familiar with the challenges of being the first to make this journey, but I carry my family’s sacrifices with pride and hope my story reminds someone that it’s possible.

What I’d be doing instead of therapy

I’ve known I wanted to be in the mental health field since I was about 10 years old, but if I wasn’t a mental health therapist, I would have loved to have been an actress!
